2025 Awards
This past year, multiple staff members and projects Preservation Studios had assisted on were recognized for their outstanding preservation efforts!
Tom Yots, our Founder and Director of Municipal Services, received the “Legacy Award”, which honored his life of preservation. From city historian, preservation commission chair of Preservation Buffalo Niagara, and founder of Preservation Studios. Tom’s motto is “So many to educate, so little time.”
Hallie Wright, a Preservation Planner, received the “Emerging Preservationist” award, which honors her efforts, growing impact, and her role in shaping the future of our region’s historic places.
The Monroe Building was honored as the 2025 Excellence in Historic Preservation Award winner through the Preservation League of New York State. The Monroe was an over $8 million project that converted the former Record Theatre complex into 17 workforce apartments and over 10,000 square feet of commercial and retail space. Preservation Studios assisted with the Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 of this project.
The 2025 Preservation Awards included Steamboat Square, The Bateman Hotel, and Bargain Grocery. Preservation Studios assisted with the Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3, along with National Register listings for 558 River Street and Steamboat Square. We also assisted with the Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 for the Bateman Hotel.
